ALLISON WOODS Living History & Reenactment

Honoring Our Ancestors

Allison Woods Living History & Reenactment

Statesville, North Carolina

September 19th, 20th & 21st, 2008

Greetings!

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your unit to the 7th Annual Living History & Reenactment Weekend being held at Allison Woods in Statesville, North Carolina on September 19th, 20th & 21st, 2008.

This year in addition to our normal Civil War reenactment and living history we will be adding an additional educational opportunity for school days and the public. We will be offering an event that has never been attempted in the southeastern United States – a living history event that will feature a military timeline to include all wars of the United States. This should be a wonderful treat for School Days on Friday, the 19th. There will also be three battles on Saturday and Sunday – Revolutionary, Civil War and World War 2. We need, and welcome your help as we honor our ancestors and the wars they were a part of.  Reenactors are expected to provide displays and activities of a working military installation and to interact with our visitors.

(For our reenactors/sutlers that have been in regular attendance for the past years, please give us a call and we will go into greater detail about the planned change for this years event...this will NOT affect OR interfere with what you have done or where you have camped in the past)

Our Civil War Living History & Reenactment has been outstanding in the past and we are proud to offer Generals Lee, Jackson, Longstreet and Stuart along with "Satan", an authentic bronze cannon that was used during the War Between the States.

Some of the things our Civil War event will offer is a Saturday and Sunday battle, a meal for all pre-registered reenactors and sutlers, as well as all of the normal amenities, (hay for horses, portable toilets, firewood, and water buffaloes). Ice and straw will be for sale onsite. There will also be plenty of music, food and fun! We will have an 1860’s fashion show and competition, Sunday morning period worship service, workshops, lectures, demonstrations, and LOTS of children’s activities not to mention our Civil War BINGO game that everyone of all ages enjoy! Jim, the BINGO man will be looking for all the kids and adults to come by and play for prizes!

And don’t worry, you won’t go away hungry because there will be some absolutely wonderful food from the period as well as modern food onsite for sale.

We will also have a night cannon firing; skirmishes and skits throughout the weekend to keep everyone entertained!

Allison Woods is approximately 1000 acres of pristine woods, streams and trails, wonderful for horses or walking. There is also a pond with fish, so bring your fishing pole! We offer shaded campsites with lots of room for children to play along with a fine Sutler row for any extras you might need or want! There will also be plenty of music, food and fun! Period food and modern food will both be available onsite.

This event has been growing steadily the past four years and we hope that you will consider making it a part of your 2008 schedule! For an event packet with registration papers, you can request them three ways.
