ALLISON WOODS Living History & Reenactment

Honoring Our Ancestors

Spectator Information

Allison Woods Living History & Reenactment offers two days of fun filled activities including battle reenactments. Friday we will be open ONLY to school children and their educators in order to experience an exciting field trip opportunity.

Our event is held the third weekend in September which will be the 20th and 21st in 2008. School days will be held on Friday the 19th and is open to all school children. (public, private, homeschool)

In the past we have offered only Civil War battles, but this year we will be adding some additional items for your enjoyment. On both Saturday and Sunday we will offer three battle reenactments of the following wars of our nation’s history - Revolutionary – Civil War - World War II. This type of event is being held in the Northern and Western United States but this will be the first event of its kind offered in the Southern United States.

The time is 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 4:00 pm on Sunday. All activities will begin at 9 and continue throughout the day. There will be demonstrations, workshops, kids activities, music and battle reenactments, plus there will be a period church service held on Sunday morning.

Bring your chairs or blankets to sit on. Lawn chairs cameras and umbrellas are welcome. Please be sure to arrive early in order to have good seats.

Children are welcome to interact with the soldiers in camps and ask them questions. This is a wonderful educational opportunity for children and an event you will not want your child to miss!

There will be chances to experience food from the Civil War period. Try a Navajo Taco for breakfast or lunch. And don’t forget Old Doc Bell’s Tonics and Elixirs for some mighty fine lemonade and root beer just to mention a couple of his specialties. There won’t be a shortage of food or drinks, so come hungry!

There will be plenty of "Sutlers" (period shopkeepers) for you to visit and shop with. Clothing, weapons, blacksmithing, music, uniforms, woodcrafts, just to mention a few.

Parking is free with special parking available for handicap.
